Consultations
During a consultation at the Croydon Pet Hospital we offer a full examination of your pet/s. This service includes general health checks, examinations and vaccinations, heartworm injections, critical care for an emergency, and care for patients with persistant skin, joint or internal disorders (such as diabetes or heart disease). We also offer long consultations for your convenience, which allows us to discuss and review your pet for more involved cases or behavioural conditions. A nurse can advise you on whether you may require a long consultation when you make an appointment.
Consultations By Appointment Only - Unless An Emergency
In Hospital Treatment
Our Hospital is fully equipped to care for your pet! Our treatment area is equipped with both hospital and isolation cages for your pets' stay. The rooms are fully air-conditioned and heated, and we aim to keep them as comfortable as possible at all times! If your pet does become ill having them stay at the clinic with us, allows us to intensively monitor and manage your pets' condition.
If you do wish to come and visit your pet whilst they are in hospital, please speak to one of the staff members and we will arrange a time.
Please note we are not at the clinic overnight or after opening hours. So if your pet is critically ill and should not be left unsupervised, we may recommend referral to the AEC (Animal Emergency Centre) for overnight care.
Surgery
We have a full surgical suite including a separate surgical theatre, and have an anaesthetist monitoring your pets anaesthetic during all surgical procedures. We routinely perform:
*Desexings (Speys and Castrations)
*Exotic pet desexings (Ferrets and Rabbits)
*Hernia Repairs
*Soft tissue surgery including - wound repair (stitch up)/aural haematoma repair/foreign body and cat bite abscess surgery
*Orthapaedic surgery - including patella and cruciate repair
*Dental surgeries (scale, polish and extractions)
*Anal gland abscess/removal
*Tumour/Wart/Lump Removals
*Exploratory laparotomy
*Amputation
*General Anaesthetic/Xrays - including Hip/elbow evaluation
*Other specialist/emergency surgical procedures - gastric bloat/ spleen removal etc
Surgery patients are admitted at 8am, so that most of the surgery can be completed in the morning period. This allows us to monitor your pets' recovery from anaesthesia during the day and ensure they are suitable to go home with you that afternoon between 4.00pm & 6.00pm. Some more invasive and critical care cases may require an overnight stay, and your Nurse or Veterinarian will advise you of this as we keep in touch throughout the day.
Pre-surgery information
Your pet MUST be fasted before an anaesthetic! A meal can be given the night before the anaesthetic, but then all food removed after 8pm, and no meal given on the morning of the anaesthetic. Water can (and should) be offered all night (unless advised otherwise). Witholding food for this period means your pet should have an empty stomach, which will prevent regurgitation or vomiting during the anaesthetic. Any vomit produced during an anaesthetic runs the risk of becoming aspirated (sucked into the airways) which can set up a vicious pneumonia. If you have any questions regarding your pets' surgical procedure or anaesthetic, please don't hesitate to ask our staff about this.
Radiology (x-rays)
We have full in-house radiology service. Radiographs (x-rays) are taken of your pet, then developed, processed, viewed and interpreted all within our hospital.
We also take hip score x-rays for clients and breeders!
Dental Care
The clinic has the latest Veterinary IM3 Dental Machine. We use this to perform anything from a routine dental (scale and polish of all teeth), up to major dental surgery involving the removal of teeth. Most dental surgeries are day procedures and your pet can leave feeling 100% better, with the added bonus of your pets' great fresh breath!
Improve your pets' smile!
Puppy Pre-School
Our Pet Hospital runs a puppy pre-school, offering a safe, fun environment for your pup to learn manners and good social skills!
Classes are currently held Wednesday evenings from 6.00pm-6.45/7.00pm. Classes start the first Wednesday of every month (puppy numbers dependent), and go for 3 weeks. The total cost for this fun experience with your pup is just $45!
Classes usually hold between 4-8 pups, and the clinic tries to mix up breeds (Ie. Larger and smaller breeds). This ensures that your pup is exposed to different sized pups to gain an optimal social experience.
Basic obedience is covered (I.e. "Sit", "Stay", "Come", "Drop", "Give"), and Veterinary Health-care topics are discussed. The main thing is that your pup becomes socialised and that you and your pup have a great time!
Please contact the clinic if you wish to make an equiry regarding our puppy classes!

Cat Grooming
Cat grooming is a special service we offer at the Croydon Pet Hospital. We will strip (comb or brush out) or clip your cats coat as much or as little as you would like. All cats receive either sedation or full anaesthesia. The decision of which depends on your cats age, health status and tolerance levels. We feel that it is kinder for your feline friend to not experience any stress or discomfort during their stay.
For prices on grooming your cat please phone the clinic and speak to our staff.
Exotic Pets
The Croydon Pet Hospital specialises in the care and treatment of companion animals (dogs and cats). However, we also examine and treat exotic animals including; mice, rats, ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds and wildlife! Please contact us to enquire if we can help you with your exotic pets medical needs!
If for some reason we feel we cannot help with your exotic pet needs, we are always happy to refer your pet on to a specialist Veterinarian.
